Georgia Dugout Preview

Q&A with North Paulding’s Jake Hembree

News
Meet Jake Hembree, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound pitcher/outfielder from North Paulding High School who has signed with Georgia. Hembree is a member of the North Georgia Big 10 cover for the 2023 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?

A: Before I pitch on game days I don’t like when people talk to me and I don’t want any of my stuff touched. I just like to mind my own business and do my thing.

Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?

A: Atlanta Braves.

Q: What is your favorite food to eat?

A: I don’t have a favorite but fried/grilled shrimp, steak and grilled chicken are probably my top three.

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?

A: I like listening to old school music.

Q: I'm a quick learner when it comes to workouts or body movements.

A: One of our athletic trainers at North named Mrs. Bruener is probably my favorite teacher. I also had her for sports medicine my junior year. Throughout all high school math has been my favorite subject.

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby?

A: Besides baseball I usually just workout or hang out with my friends. Also, I like spending time by the pool with my family.

Q: If you could travel anywhere outside the U.S., what would be your dream location and why?

A: I’d like to go to the Bahamas one day because I’ve heard a lot of nice things about it and that it’s a great beach to go to

Q: Name the person you'd like to meet the most and why?

A: I’d like to meet Clayton Kershaw or Max Fried and just ask them how they go about doing things and the preparation they have for start days. Also, I'd talk to them about their work-ethic and what they do to be the best pitchers they can be.

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?

A: My dad because he’s always been there for me and given me opportunities that some kids can’t have while providing me with the best equipment.

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: If baseball doesn’t go as planned, I'd like to be an athletic trainer of some sort or a physical therapist.
