Q&A with Westfield’s James Hays

Meet James Hays, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound pitcher/infielder from Westfield School who has signed with Georgia. Hays is a member of the Georgia Independent Athletic Association (GIAA) Big 10 cover for the 2023 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?

A: Never step on the foul line.

Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?

A: Atlanta Braves.

Q: What is your favorite food to eat?

A: Sushi.

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?

A: Everyone seems to be surprised when they find out my dad is a sod farmer. I guess some don't know that is a thing.

Q: I'm a quick learner when it comes to workouts or body movements.

A: Favorite teacher is Mrs. Mary Gentry, favorite subject is science.

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby?

A: Fishing.

Q: If you could travel anywhere outside the U.S., what would be your dream location and why?

A: I would like to travel to Europe to see some cool places and to try the great food.

Q: Name the person you'd like to meet the most and why?

A: Mike Trout. He is a great guy and plays the game the right way.

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?

A: My dad. He has pushed me and taught me many skills I know.

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: Something to do with business and agriculture.
