Q&A with Hebron Christian’s Parker Marlatt

Meet Parker Marlatt, a 5-foot-11, 175-pound pitcher/infielder from Hebron Christian School who has signed with South Carolina. Marlatt is a member of the North Georgia Big 10 cover for the 2023 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?

A:

  1. My glove and hat must be placed on the left side of third base, just before the National Anthem.
  2. I always throw three fastballs for my first three warm-up pitches off the mound and in-between innings.  
  3. When playing third base, I only like to take two ground balls from first between innings.

Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?

A: Atlanta Braves.

Q: What is your favorite food to eat?

A: Fried chicken.

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?

A: I own a small business that specializes in lawn maintenance.

Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?

A: Mrs. Dawn Lyon is my favorite teacher and I had her for history my junior year. Math is my favorite subject in school.

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby?

A: My hobbies outside of baseball are playing golf and hanging out with my family.

Q: If you could travel anywhere outside the U.S., what would be your dream location and why?

A: Asia would be my top dream location because I would like to see how different the game is on the other side of the world, especially with the rise of talent coming out of there.

Q: Name the person you'd like to meet the most and why?

A: As far as baseball players go, Bryce Harper would be the person I’d like to meet the most because I like the swagger he plays with. I’d also like to meet Jason Aldean because I grew up listening to his music.

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?

A: My mom has been the most influential because she has always been there for me no matter what. She supports me in anything and everything I want to do, especially when it comes to chasing my dreams.

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: As a University of South Carolina signee, I’m blessed to be able to play at the next level. As for a career, I would like to become a pilot and/or own a larger-scale landscaping business.
