Meet Drew Hammock, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound pitcher/shortstop from Crawford County High School. Hammock is a member of the South Georgia Big 10 cover for the 2025 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.
Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?
A: I like to listen to music before the game to prepare myself to get ready to compete.
Q: Are you a morning person or a night owl?
A: Definitely a morning person. I’m in bed by 10 o’clock every night.
Q: What is your favorite way to spend a weekend?
A: I love working out with teammates and pushing myself and others to get stronger and better.
Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?
A: I’m bad double-jointed and can put my arms in some funny positions.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?
A: Coach Jump at Crawford County. One of my biggest fans. My favorite subject is math.
Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby?
A: Hunting and fishing. I love everything about the outdoors and God’s creation.
Q: What jersey number do you wear and what reason did you choose that number?
A: 17, it is a long line of Hammocks that wore 17. Family Tradition.
Q: What do you like the most about playing baseball?
A: I enjoy competing on the mound. I also enjoy the time spent with friends on the field. I have made many friends through the years of playing baseball.
Q: Do you have any pets?
A: I have a yellow lab named Cotton. Her favorite thing to do is eat and take rides. She is family to us.
Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?
A: I’m committed to play baseball at Kennesaw State University. I plan on pursuing a business degree or Sports management degree. Would like to open my own taxidermy shop or continue a career in the sports field.
