Q&A with Brookwood’s Zack Counts

Meet Zack Counts, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound catcher/first-baseman/outfielder from Brookwood School in Thomasville who has signed with Gordon State. Counts is a member of the Georgia Independent Athletic Association (GIAA) Big 10 cover for the 2023 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?

A: Tap home plate twice before each pitch when batting.

Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?

A: Miami Marlins.

Q: What is your favorite food to eat?

A: Surf and turf.

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you? 

A: I like to play pickle ball.  

Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?

A: Daniel Funt -- history.

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby? 

A: Water sports/hunting.

Q: If you could travel anywhere outside the U.S., what would be your dream location and why?

A: Greece, so I can see all the ancient architecture.

Q: Name the person you'd like to meet the most.

A: Rick Allen (Drummer from Def Leppard) -- I find him inspirational because of his ability to overcome adversity.

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life?

A: My father. He has taught me about more than just being a good ball player, he has taught me about being a good person.

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: Sports medicine.
