Q&A with George Walton’s Colt Ratliff

Meet Colt Ratliff, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound catcher/first-baseman from George Walton Academy who has signed with Wisconsin Lutheran College. Ratliff is a member of the Georgia Independent Athletic Association (GIAA) Big 10 cover for the 2023 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?

A: I don't really have an in-game ritual, but I will wear the same pants in different games if I played well in them the previous day.

Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?

A: Atlanta Braves.

Q: What is your favorite food to eat?

A: Blackened grouper.

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you.

A: I can play the piano.

Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?

A: My favorite teacher is my Physics teacher, Mrs. Watts, and my favorite high school subject is Physics.

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby?

A: Weightlifting.

Q: If you could travel anywhere outside the U.S., what would be your dream location and why?

A: My dream location would be New Zealand. I just think it is beautiful, and it would be fun to go hunt red stag there.

Q: Name the person you'd like to meet the most and why?

A: I would like to meet Tom Platz. I would like to talk with him about bodybuilding and nutrition, and I'd also like to get a workout in with him.

Q: Who has been the influential person is your life and why?

A: My dad has been the most influential person in my life. He has shown me what it really means to be a great Christian man and leader. He has shown me what hard work is. My dad has demonstrated and taught me how to keep my head up and persevere when everything seems to be falling down around you no matter how hard you are trying. He has also led me to love the things that I enjoy doing like hunting, baseball, fishing and being outside. 

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: After baseball, I plan to pursue a career in Electrical Engineering.
