Q&A with Pike County’s Mason Trucks

News
Meet Mason Trucks, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound pitcher/infielder from Pike County High School who has signed with Walters State Community College. Trucks is a member of the South Georgia Big 10 cover for the 2023 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?

A: Every game I play or am in, I pray before and when I am pitching, I wear the same boxers every time.

Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?

A: Atlanta Braves.

Q: What is your favorite food to eat?

A: A good medium-rare ribeye.

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you.

A: I’m a very picky eater and dislike vegetables, but my mom makes me eat them.

Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?

A: It’s a toss up between Mr. Swain or Mr. Patel on any day, and math is my favorite subject.

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby?

A: Any kind of hunting, but I prefer duck, and golfing to see how many balls I can lose in one day.

Q: If you could travel anywhere outside the U.S., what would be your dream location and why?

A: I would travel to Jerusalem to see the Holy Land.

Q: Name the person you'd like to meet the most and why?

A: Mad Max, Max Scherzer. I look up to him on the mound and in the way he carries himself pitching.

Q: Who has been the influential person is your life and why?

A: The most influential person is a hard one to answer because my whole family supports me. But one single person would be my brother. He’s taught me so much, not just about baseball, but about life and even though I joke with him about how he acts like my dad, I love him for it and I will always be thankful for the positive “big brother” impact he has made on me for the rest of my life. Love you brother.

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: Hopefully retirement but if not, I will definitely be welding somewhere and hopefully doing some kind of coaching.
