Meet Will Allen, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound pitcher/first-baseman from Houston County High School. Allen is a member of the South Georgia Big 10 cover for the 2025 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.
Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?
A: I’m superstitious about my pre-game warmup before I take the mound. I have a certain routine that I do, and I do it the same way every time before every game.
Q: Are you a morning person or a night owl?
A: Night Owl.
Q: What is your favorite way to spend a weekend?
A: I love the water, so going to the beach or the lake is my favorite way to spend a weekend.
Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?
A: I’m a huge UFC fan.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?
A: Ms. Wright, my 11th Grade English Teacher, but my favorite subject is History.
Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby?
A: Playing golf, pickleball and fishing.
Q: What jersey number do you wear and what reason did you choose that number?
A: I got assigned number 27 my freshman year and it just stuck.
Q: What do you like the most about playing baseball?
A: Being on the mound with the purpose to strike people out.
Q: Do you have any pets? If so, talk about them.
A: I have a yellow lab named Stella and a cat named Al that’s 15 yrs old.
Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?
A: I’m hoping baseball will be my career but if it does not work out, I will probably pursue a career in some sort of business management or finance.
