Meet Parker Bryant, a 6-foot-0, 180-pound pitcher/catcher from West Laurens High School. Bryant is a member of the South Georgia Big 10 cover for the 2025 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.
Q: What in-game rituals do you have?
A: I pray before every game, and before I hit, I always do the same routine. I am not a superstitious kind of person, but during baseball season, whether I shave or not depends on my performance from the previous game.
Q: Are you a morning person or a night owl?
A: More of a night owl than a morning person.
Q: What is your favorite way to spend a weekend?
A: Working on the farm with my dad and papa and spending time with family and friends.
Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?
A: I have a black belt in Taekwondo.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?
A: My favorite teacher is my aunt, Diane Wilcher. She teaches honors math classes at West Laurens High School. My favorite subject was agriculture.
Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby?
A: It’s a tie between playing golf and farming.
Q: What jersey number do you wear and what reason did you choose that number?
A: #9 – I’ve worn this number for as long as I can remember.
Q: What do you like the most about playing baseball?
A: The relationships between the players and coaches.
Q: Do you have any pets? If so, talk about them.
A: We’ve had our black lab, Abby, since she was 8 weeks old. She is now 13 years old. We can talk to her in a certain tone of voice, and she smiles at us.
Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?
A: I am not certain of the exact path. I know that I would prefer a career that allows me to be outdoors and working with my hands.
