Meet John Davis, a 5-foot-11, 160-pound pitcher/outfielder from Tift County High School. Davis is a member of the South Georgia Big 10 cover for the 2025 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.
Q: What in-game rituals do you have?
A: I wear the same sliding shorts in every game. (They are clean)
Q: Are you a morning person or a night owl?
A: I am mainly a night owl except during deer season.
Q: What is your favorite way to spend a weekend?
A: In the woods hunting or preparing to hunt. I also enjoy shooting my bow.
Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?
A: I enjoy training my black lab.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?
A: My favorite teacher is Jennifer Gunn who was my ELA teacher.
Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby?
A: I enjoy anything outdoors. Especially bow hunting and fishing.
Q: What jersey number do you wear and what reason did you choose that number?
A: I have always worn the number 5. I wear that number mainly because my cousin wore it and I have always looked up to him.
Q: What do you like the most about playing baseball?
A: The family it gives you.
Q: Do you have any pets? If so, talk about them.
A: I have a black lab named Rambo. This hunting season will be his first.
Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?
A: I plan to pursue a career in coaching after baseball.
