
Troup County and Cherokee Bluff split the first two games of the best-of-three Georgia High School Association Class 3A state championship series Tuesday night at AdventHealth Stadium.
GHSA Class 3A: Troup County, Cherokee Bluff split
ROME, Ga. -- Troup County and Cherokee Bluff will meet Wednesday at noon in a winner-take-all Game 3 to decide the best-of-three Georgia High School Association Class 3A state baseball championship series at AdventHealth Stadium.
The deciding third game will be played at noon after the two teams split the first two games of the series. Troup County (31-9) took the first game 5-1 behind right-hander Jake Perry's complete-game performance on the mound. He allowed just a run on five hits,
The Tigers spotted Perry an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single from Perry and an RBI double from Torreion Delaney. Troup added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to grab a commanding five-run lead on RBI singles from Delaney and Garrison Edwards and an RBI double from Ethan Goff.
But Cherokee Bluff (28-13) cut down Troup's momentum in Game 2 with a mercy-rule 15-0 victory in four innings behind a dominating pitching performance from Tucker Holton who allowed the Tigers just a pair of hits.
The Bears scored eight runs in the bottom of the third to break open the game, then pushed seven more across the plate in the fourth.
Bubba Coleman and Cody Bridger finished with two hits each to lead Cherokee Bluff's nine-hit attack. Ethan England finished with three RBIs.
