Q&A with Etowah’s Matthew Sharman

Meet Matthew Sharman, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound pitcher from Etowah High School. Sharman is a member of the Metro Atlanta Big 10 cover for the 2026 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

Q: What in-game rituals do you have?

A: I take a knee and pray before every start.

Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?

A: Atlanta Braves.

Q: What is your favorite food to eat?

A: Steak, medium rare, with a baked potato.

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?

A: I did a modeling job for Disney when I was three years old and my mom invested the money and I used it to buy my first car.

Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?

A: Mrs. Adams was my Sophomore Science Teacher and she has been my favorite high school teacher. I’ve always liked History, learning about people throughout the centuries.

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby?

A: I love playing golf.

Q: What jersey number do you wear and what reason did you choose that number?

A: I’ve always liked wearing number 10 after Chipper Jones.

Q: What do you like the most about playing baseball?

A: I love to compete and it’s really fun to win.

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?

A: My whole family, everyone for a different reason. My two brothers and mom and dad have really shaped my life.

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: After I finish playing baseball, I’d love to stay connected to the game and become a college coach or MLB Coach.
