Meet Bryson Thacker, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound pitcher/first-baseman/outfielder from Rome High School who has signed with Tennessee. Thacker is a member of the North Georgia Big 10 cover for the 2023 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?

A: Before the game, I always run two poles to get the legs moving. And before each inning while I’m pitching, I draw a cross behind the rubber with my left cleat.

Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?

A: Atlanta Braves.

Q: What is your favorite food to eat?

A: Steak, asparagus, loaded potato and cucumbers.

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you.

A: I run a 6.4 60.

Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?

A: My U.S. history class and my favorite teacher is my PE coach/basketball coach, Coach McFather.

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby?

A: I love to fish and hang out with my friends.

Q: If you could travel anywhere outside the U.S., what would be your dream location and why?

A: I would love to travel to Dubai and see all of the beautiful sites the country has to offer.

Q: Name the person you'd like to meet the most and why?

A: Kobe Bryant. I would love to meet him because he was such an inspiration not only to the basketball world but to everyone. I would like to ask him questions about what he did to set him apart from the rest.

Q: Who has been the influential person is your life and why?

A: My mom has always been the most influential person to me with her being a single mom and doing all things by herself to help provide for me and my sister. She has taught me that nothing is given to you, you always have to go out and get it yourself. You have to work for everything you do and no matter how much you work, you can always do more or can always work harder. She’s taught me that the work you put in will always come out.

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: Real estate because I love to make things better than they used to be.
