Q&A with Cartersville’s Andrew Purdy

Meet Andrew Purdy, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound third-baseman/pitcher from Cartersville High School. Purdy is a member of the Metro Big 10 cover for the 2025 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

Q: What in-game rituals do you have?

A: I’m not really superstitious, but I like to hit with my dad before games.

Q: Are you a morning person or a night owl?

A: Definitely night owl.

Q: What is your favorite way to spend a weekend?

A:  Hanging out with friends.

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?

A: I’m really good at solving Rubik’s Cube.

Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?

A: My favorite teacher growing up was Mrs. Gilmer and my favorite subject is math.

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby?

A: I really enjoy fishing anytime I get a chance. I also like to hunt and play golf.

Q: What jersey number do you wear and what reason did you choose that number?

A: I wear #21 because this number is the number my dad wore growing up.

Q: What do you like the most about playing baseball?

A: There’s nothing better than hitting a no-doubt home run.

Q: Do you have any pets? If so, talk about them.

A: No pets.

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: Physical Therapy.
