Meet KT Thompson, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound outfielder/first-baseman from Cherokee Bluff High School. Thompson is a member of the North Georgia Big 10 cover for the 2025 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.
Q: What in-game rituals do you have?
A: Pray during the national anthem every game. I also have to put my leg guard on first then batting gloves.
Q: Are you a morning person or a night owl?
A: Night owl, takes me some time to get out of bed.
Q: What is your favorite way to spend a weekend?
A: Favorite way to spend my weekend would definitely be going on the lake with some buddies and enjoying time with them and just being on the water.
Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?
A: I took sign language in high school for my language.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?
A: Favorite teacher would be Coach Hill, he taught me math my sophomore year. My favorite subject would be Social Studies because history is a little easier to learn than the rest.
Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby?
A: Either playing MLB the show or riding around with buddies going to places we love.
Q: What jersey number do you wear and what reason did you choose that number?
A: 14, I chose 14 because of Connor Shaw. He is like a big brother to me and I always wanted to be like him. He played football and was the quarterback at South Carolina. Then went to play in the NFL, was drafted by the Bears and then played for the Browns.
Q: What do you like the most about playing baseball?
A: What I love about baseball are the results you see that come out when you know you worked so hard in the offseason. Also, the relationships I have been able to create with other people being around the game.
Q: Do you have any pets? If so, talk about them.
A: I have 2 little Yorkies; one is 13 and one is 10. They drive us crazy every day but I love coming home and seeing them. They definitely keep us busy at the house.
Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?
A: Coaching or some type of news broadcasting in the sports industry.
