News

Meet Jackson Peavy, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound pitcher from Peach County High School. Peavy is a member of the South Georgia Big 10 cover for the 2025 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?

A: Before every game I’m going to pitch, I read an insert from a book I have on mental health and confidence in a sports environment. After that I will go to center field, say a prayer and stretch.

Q: Are you a morning person or a night owl?

A: Definitely a night owl.

Q: What is your favorite way to spend a weekend?

A:  I love going fishing with friends and working out with my trainer Tyler Steele at T2.

Q:  Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?

A: I am one of the tops in my class in the subject of Math.

Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?

A: Mrs. Martin, my biology teacher would be my favorite teacher but my favorite subject is hands down Math.

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby?

A:  I enjoy working out, fishing and pickleball.

Q: What jersey number do you wear and what reason did you choose that number?

A: My 8th-grade year I was allowed to come up and play for my high school team and was given the number 9. Ever since then I have worn that number and considered it a special part of helping me become who I am.

Q: What do you like the most about playing baseball?

A: It allows me the opportunity to meet so many new people who I would have never had the chance to meet outside of baseball. It also allows me to push myself to obtain new goals I’ve set for myself.

Q:  Do you have any pets? If so, talk about them.

A: I do not have any pets.

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: I plan to either own my own training facility for athletes, become a scout or pursue Kinesiology.
