Q&A with Parkview’s Malachi Washington

Meet Malachi Washington, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound outfielder from Parkview High School. Washington is a member of the Metro Atlanta Big 10 cover for the 2026 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

Q: What in-game rituals do you have?

A: I bring a stuffed Sonic animal everywhere I go to every game. I also pray in center field before every game, and I have the same pre-pitch routine before every at-bat.

Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?

A: Either the Atlanta Braves or the Las Vegas Athletics.

Q: What is your favorite food to eat?

A: Definitely seafood, then steak and always candy gummies before the game.

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you?

A: I actually love fishing and can surf pretty well. I also speak Spanish fluently.

Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?

A: My favorite teacher last year was probably Coach Gunter, and my favorite subject is science.

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby?

A: Definitely playing pickle ball or fishing.

Q: What jersey number do you wear and what reason did you choose that number?

A: No. 2 because it was the day I was born.

Q: What do you like the most about playing baseball?

A: It takes my mind off of things and is really relaxing. It lets me feel free and is my escape.

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?

A: Definitely my parents because they've been with me through and through.

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: Either become a real estate agent or become a F1 driver.
